No.2 Doi Suthep templeVisit Wat Phra Thart Doi Suthep is set amongst the peaks of Doi Suthep. It has a lovely setting with a panoramic view of Chiangmai and the Mae Ping River valley. Although Wat Doi Suthep is the most recently built of the temples dating from the Lanna Thai period, it is the symbol of Chiangmai. The site was selected by sending an elephant to roam at will up the mountainside. When it reached this spot, it trumpeted, circled three times, and kneeled down and thus interpreted as a sign indicating and auspicious site.
No.3 Elephant at work & RidingVisit Mae Sa elephant camp, which is located 30 kms north of Chiang Mai. Spend about one hour to see how the smart elephants perform logging, dancing, playing soccer, musical instrument and giving massage. Afterwards, we visit orchid nurseries, butterfly farms and waterfalls.
No.4 Golden TriangleThe Golden Triangle is where the borders of Burma, Thailand and Laos meet, 260 kilometers north of Chiang Mai. It takes three and a half hours to get there by aircon minibus. We make the first three stops at Hot Spa, Akha and Yao hilltribe villages and the ancient temples in Chiang Saen Historical Park. We stop one hour for lunch at the Golden Triangle, and then visit the trading border town of Mae Sai. To visit or go shopping to Burma costs 5.- US$ for a one-day visa. A boat trip along the Mae Kong River can be arranged.
No.5 Doi Inthanon national parkDoi Inthanon National park the highest spot of Thailand; Karen & Mhong villages , water fall , bird watching Pick you up at 8:30 am. from your hotel in Chiang Mai and drive two hours to get to the highest peak of Thailand, Doi Inthanon, which is also a national park. Experience the lush vegetation and see rare birds of prey around the peak at temperatures of 10-15 degrees in winter time (warm clothes are recommended). We visit the pagodas to have a panoramic view from the top. Then we continue to Meo and Karen hilltribe villages, and see two big waterfalls. Swimming in the waterfalls is superb.
No.6 Home industriesSankampaeng village is 5 kms from Chiang Mai and can be reached within 20 minutes. Visit cottage industries where local crafts and arts are made and sold at reasonable prices, but no obligation to buy. See how umbrellas are made and painted. Thai silk, wood carvings, lacquerware and silver wares and more are available. Pick up at 8:30 am. from your hotel and drop you off at 12:00 noon, or 1:30 pm. to 5:00 pm.
